Messy Marriage’s 5-Year Blogiversary, Giveaway and WW Linkup

5 Year Messy MarriageI can’t believe it’s been five years since I had this hare-brained idea that people might resonate with and find comfort in a blog that focused on messy marriage. God has used this blog to not only minister to, hopefully you, our readers, but to my own marriage as well.

Sharing my story and other people’s real-life messy marriage stories has stretched  and grown me.

And …

[Tweet “Sharing the lessons God has taught me through my messy marriage has blessed me.”]

Honestly, though, it’s been the hardest five years—because I never dreamed how much this blog/ministry would require of me!

But also …

[Tweet “It’s been the BEST five years … and I’m looking forward to many more! #MM5blogiversary”]

Also, please pray for me and my husband as we begin to offer marriage workshops. We have one coming up this Friday (that’s all booked up! Yay!) and also next Friday that’s in Virginia (still have room). If you live in the Lynchburg, Virginia region, I’d love it if you’d check out our flyer by clicking on Connect U . Also if you have any friends who live in that region, please pass the info along to them as well!

I’m also guest posting over at my sweet friend Judith’s WholeHearted Wednesday this week. So if you have time, I’d love it if you’d check out my article, “Avoiding the Trap of Messy Motherhood” over at her place.

But since it is MM’s anniversary and a big one to boot … I’d like to do a BIG giveaway. So I’ve got five $10 Walmart gift cards that are burning a whole in my pocket! I’m planning on giving them to five randomly chosen people who comment below by Saturday, Oct. 17th at midnight (CDT). Please note you must live in either the continental U.S. or Canada to be eligible.

I wish I could also serve all of you some cake, but that might get a little “messy” if I tried to send it through the mail! So just make sure to eat some cake in honor of our big day! 😉

What’s ahead for MM? I plan on beginning a new series on “Men and Openness” next week that will be leading up to the big reveal of the survey results on that same subject in November (after I get back from my two week vacation in Virginia. Don’t worry, MM will be hosted by some great bloggy friends during those two weeks).

The results of the survey have been very interesting to see and I think it will be a really provocative and practical series, so I hope you’ll come on back to check it out!

Also, if you are a man in a committed relationship and haven’t completed my survey, please consider doing that for us as well! It’s just 8 mostly multiple choice questions, so it should only take a few minutes to complete. Thanks so much!

Congratulations on five years! You’ve done so very much good in that time.

What I have learned in marriage, and in particular in my current situation, is that I may be called upon to show a level of compassion that I would not have believed possible.

And a topic – dealing with emotional infidelity would be a good one. I believe you’ve been there before, but in this day of Facebook friendships going beyond the pale, it may be worth another visit.

  3. Congratulations on your 5 year anniversary! God has taught me to be more patient with my husband. I think sometimes I tend to be too controlling with how the household runs. Im trying to change my ways and be more open to my husband’s help.

Happy Messy Marriage Anniversary! 5 Years! That is so awesome! What have I learned in the messiness of marriage? That when I’m mad/frustrated with my husband – most of it is my issue – not his! That was a humbling eye-opener! Praying for you guys!

  6. What a mile marker to celebrate! Congratulations!
Through the messiness of marriage, God has shown me the amazing intimacy that results from repentance and forgiveness. No grudge or bitterness is worth the incredible complexity and depth of relationship that comes with reconciliation. How deep the Father’s love for us!

Wishing you a great time with your family in Virginia. ♥

  9. Happy Blogiversary! Five years is a wonderful milestone. I have been blessed beyond words to find you and to get to know you. I treasure your friendship and beautiful encouraging heart. As for a lesson learned in marriage-Christ needs to be the center for a marriage to thrive. I am now being taught by my sons what this will look like in their own marriages. Hugs and I am enjoying the cake! 🙂

  11. Happy Blogiversary!!! What a milestone, and I know it’s hard for all of us bloggers who love ministering to others. One thing I’ve learned on your blogs is the story does not end with messes. The story will go on as we walk with God. Thanks for this ministry.

God can indeed do awesome things through little seeds of obedience. Messy Marriage has been a blessing and inspiration to me and I believe many others as well.
God has taught me in the “messiness of marriage” that life is NOT ALL ABOUT ME! And I am glad He did.
I know God will do many more great things through this blog…
Happy Blogiversary Beth! God bless you and your marriage!

  14. Happy Anniversary! I have so enjoyed being here & getting to know you & others as well. One lesson I have learned through the messiness of marriage is this –> A messy marriage does not mean God cannot make it a beautiful marriage. Hard lesson to learn but so worth it!

One way God has used our marriage…. To show me my selfishness. And, I believe He is also using our marriage to rid me of it.

  25. Congratulations on 5 years! You have been such a blessing and inspiration to me in my marriage. Your desire and willingness to help marriages become healthy is so beautiful. God is using you! Over the past few years in my marriage I have learned to let God change ME – heal ME – love ME – use ME! And then pray, pray, pray for my marriage and my husband while I remain quiet with my eyes open so I can SEE and HEAR what God is doing without interrupting His amazing, perfect work in His very perfect timing!
