I Feel Like a Broken Record!

Broken Record

And sadly, I’m old enough to remember what that looked like! Ha!

I feel like I am just falling farther and farther behind in life lately. Most recently, I’m having to add 7 hours of travel and treatment time for chronic pain/numbness {that I’ve struggled with for the past year or more} to my already crowded schedule. Also just days ago, my husband’s biological father passed away. So we will be traveling about 7 hours away to Huntsville, Alabama for the funeral this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. {However, I will still be hosting the Wedded Wednesday link up, so I hope you’ll come back by!}

But all of this busyness makes me so sad because, I can’t connect or respond to my fellow-bloggers like I used to before this time of challenge and setback occurred.

So I’d love it if you’d pray for me and my husband during this time to recover in all the areas where things are piling up and crowding our lives!

But I’d also love to pray for you too!

A few months back I asked how I could pray for you, our readers, especially those who are struggling in their marriages, and I’ve been praying for those individuals daily. But I’d like to offer this again!

That way, I can lift you up as you lift me and my husband up in prayer!

So how can I pray for you in your marriage or in some other challenge that you’re currently facing?

{By the way, if you want to remain anonymous or private, please feel free to email me — messymarriage@gmail.com — your requests rather than posting them in the comment section!}

Also, below are a few great blog posts I really appreciated this past week. I hope you check them out or share them with your friends!

Ugochi over at Teshuva reminded us to stay true and aware of … The Wedding Vow (Updated)

Justin and Megan over at Do Not Disturb – I always enjoy their practical wisdom on making intimacy the deepest and best it can be!  And … R.U.N. towards Sex is no exception!

Linda over at Creekside Ministries talks about listening—one of my favorite subjects—and gives us great advice on how to be Attentive Companions.

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your family loss. May you have safe travels. I hate to hear that you’re having to add more stress to your hectic lives, but at least you are getting relief for your pain.
    Please pray that my husband gets better so that we can return to our normal life style.He’s been dealing with some major chest pains that only seem to be getting worse.

    You and yours will be in my thoughts and prayers.

    1. Yes, Crystal, I’m encouraged by what the pain management doctor is going to do for me. It’s not the traditional route like cortisone shots, so I’m excited to see how and if this really changes things for me. And yes, I will certainly add your husband and the health issues he’s facing. Sounds like scary stuff, my friend! I hope and I’ll pray that it’s nothing serious. 🙂

  2. My heart hurts for you and this loss that you and your husband are facing. Prayers are being lifted but please know I pray for you daily. Your amazing strength in the midst of new challenges has always been an inspiration to me. You know my current struggles and after just visiting my brother and sister-in-law this weekend some of the ache of losing my mom has re-surfaced. My family is amazing but as memories are present so is the deep loss. I am so blessed to have friends like you and the daily reminder that God loves me more than life. May God’s hand of comfort be present in both you and your husband’s heart this week.

    1. Oh yes, Mary. You’re going through a year of “firsts” without your mom–all of which, are painful and may seem to set you back whenever you walk through these many thresholds. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I’m sure you’ll be on that emotional roller coaster again. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and you are one that I already have on my daily list of requests. Now I can update how to pray for you in this, my friend!

    1. Thank you so much, Linda! I do hope that this time of pain and grief will also provide the “lovely blessings” you mentioned. Sometimes, as family gathers, this is an unexpected joy. I know it certainly will give my husband, Gary, the opportunity to walk together with his half-siblings through another threshold, perhaps bringing them closer together than they were before.

  4. Accept my condolences Beth. I know the pain of loss and I can imagine how you all are feeling. But in God we find comfort. Journey mercies in your travels this period and God’s strength be upon you and your health. Please give my warm greetings to your husband and thanks very much for mentioning Teshuva and my post here.

    1. Oh, I remember those round vinyl discs too…lol…now they are making a comeback! My 22 year old is in love with his “turntable” and “albums”. Scours old record stores on the weekends looking for treasures. Who knew?!

    I’m sorry about the loss of your father-in-law, Beth. My prayers are with you.

    Also for the chronic pain thing. That’s a real bummer. I deal with it myself, and since narcotics stopped working the only thing I have left is meditation. And teeth-gritting. And occasionally passing out. (When I go down outside, the dogs drag me back to the house, or at least into the shade. Across gravel.)

    Prayer? Yes, please, but I think I’ll email you.

    Hi Beth, I’m stopping in from Monday Musings. I’m so sorry to hear of your father-in-law’s passing. My prayers are with you for strength and comfort during your long trip, and for healing hearts as you grieve this loss. I hope you can all reconnect with family during this time and God uses this to “plant and water seeds” in glorious ways.

    Oh, those albums…I do remember. How times change. Prayers for our home to sell this Spring/Summer would be much appreciated.

  8. Praying for you, dear friend, and with my sympathies for this loss in your family. And asking God to give you great grace and wisdom in the area of letting go. He never gives us more than we can handle. I have learned in my life that when I start feeling like I can’t keep up it’s sometimes because I am not being called to keep up in the way I think. There are seasons when we are to be quiet and just receive and in so doing we come to understand His love for us at yet a deeper level. Peace to you, Beth, in this season of Him holding you in the healing of your heart and body. I love you. xxoo
