Remember it?

I’m talking about when the camera pans closer and closer over the mountains to where Julie Andrews broke out into song, melodically boasting about how the hills are alive with the sound of music.

This inspirational image and idea come very close to what the Apostle Paul was urging us to do when he wrote these words in Colossians 3:16. Only he wasn’t talking about praising in song the beauty of a mountainside, but rather …

    I’m grateful for the mud.
I’m grateful for the life that’s mine,
    although it’s drenched in blood.

though I wish their lives were longer,
and I’m grateful for the neighbour’s Hogs
    whose music makes me stronger.
    I’m grateful for the cancer
    that opened up my eyes
    to the unexpected answer
    that dismay’s the devil’s lies.
I’m grateful for the gal who loves me,
    and for God’s Grace, eternally.

  3. Glad to see your site is back working for me. I clicked on it last week and it wasn’t working. One positive thing I’ve learned from my mother-in-law is to show up with food. I don’t always do it, but she does and it’s almost always welcome! Have a blessed Thanksgiving, Beth!
